Is It Spring Yet?

I’m doing it again- raiding my closet.  At the end of each season, I find myself itching for new clothes, preferably styles that are more geared toward the next season.  Does anyone else do that?  In this case, I really, really want to buy a whole new Spring wardrobe but my dilemma is that as a one-income household in this very expensive city, I can’t bring myself to spend the cash.  Plus, it’s still freezing outside so I can’t even wear them yet!  Instead, I reached for my go-to sweater, a beautiful rosey-blush colored piece I purchased from Madewell earlier this winter.  Since then, I’ve been wearing it weekly.

Still craving that Spring touch, I rifled through some tanks I’ve held onto, even though they’re not quite compatible with chasing toddlers.  The necklines are low and when I bend over, everything is on display.  These are the tanks that are saved specifically for adult outings or times when I won’t be essentially rolling on the ground with kids.  I chose a really pretty floral tank that I bought years ago at Express.  The colors complimented the sweater perfectly and it quenched my craving for a Spring pop.  Paired with some Gap Factory skinnies and my favorite Aldo wedge booties, I created a really cute and affordable outfit for the day!

I have to admit, I’m an accessory junkie (mostly jewelry accessories) and love to layer bracelets, necklaces, rings, you name it.  I added a delicate lariat style necklace from Anthropologie and layered some bracelets gifted to me around my watch.

I have a few expensive pieces of jewelry and accessories that I either save up for or receive as gifts for holidays/birthdays.  Other than that, most of my pieces are from popular clothing stores or etsy!  I’ll do another post about saving money on jewelry soon!

How do you budget for your wardrobe?  What are your “looks for less?”  I’d love to hear your tips and tricks!
Happy Almost End of Winter!

It's All About Winter Comfort!

….And it snowed in Boston yesterday.  Just as I was trying to transition my closet to more Spring- themed outfits , BOOM snow.  But, that’s New England for ya.  I actually love living here and experiencing each season, it’s just that as each season nears the end, I’m SO ready for the new one to begin! When it does snow, I refuse to dress in anything but comfort.  You should have seen me on the days it snowed when I worked in a business casual (think no jeans) atmosphere.  Let’s just say I improvised...liberally!  All that to say, I wanted pure comfort but to also look cute while out and about with the kiddies.  I chose my go-to weekend lounge wear: black leggings.  Ahh, they are so versatile!  I paired them with a cute striped long-sleeved tee from J. Crew Factory for a pop of color and threw my favorite sweatshirt on over that.  I live for the layered look!  It’s a style you’ll see on me often! I threw on some rain b...

Stripes & Florals: the perfect Sunday outfit

I don't know about you, but I loathe wearing anything but leggings and sweats when I'm at home.  I don't even like lounging around in my jeans.  I want pure comfort but I also want to look cute so I was ecstatic when I realized that athleisure is a thing!  I've wanted a pair of joggers for awhile now, but I was worried about how they'd look if I ventured out of the house in a pair.  Would they be versatile enough to pair with anything other than a sweatshirt?  Would they look too pajama-like?  I waffled back and forth long enough that I ended up forgetting about buying a pair at all.  It was while I was perusing Pinterest, as I frequently do, I came across the cutest pair of striped joggers.  When I clicked over to the retailer, I had never heard of them and they were online only, so I was worried it wasn't a legit site.  However, after weeks of consistently coming across pins of these joggers and falling in love over and over again I decid...

A Piece for Every Season

I love a clothing item that I can use over and over again, all year long.  If I’m spending money on clothes, I like to get use out of them.  That is certainly the case with my Abercrombie and Fitch cardigan ( similar to this style ).  It’s the prettiest heathered pink and I have actually I’ve worn it during every New England season so far! I bought this in late summer in preparation for the coming Fall weather.  I ended up wearing it on those late summer nights when the hottest day suddenly drops to the coolest evenings once the sun sets.  It is the perfect weight to keep me warm but not overheat, especially with cut-offs and a tank.  I packed this every time I ventured to Cape Cod for the weekend.   Here are some of the ways I styled this sweater in each season: Summer: This sweater is super cute layered over a a slouchy tee knotted at the waist and some cut offs.  My tee is from J.Crew and cut offs from Express a few years ago...
